Senior Manager, Custodial Services

JOB REF: COMM/EBUL 04/2024/1

Reports to: Executive Director – Commercial

Job Purpose

To develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the custodial services operational & sales strategy across the Bank, enhance business growth, drive initiatives that enhance client relations and ensure operational efficiency and service delivery in line with Equity Bank’s business growth strategy.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting, Business Administration/ Commerce or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification in Securities and investment services such as CISI or a Securities Industry Certification from Capital Markets & Securities Authority (CMSA) is required.
  • At least 8 years progressive experience in the financial markets industry with exposure in Custodial & Investment Services.
  • Experience in sales & marketing within custodial services and fund management transaction settlement is mandatory.
  • Sound knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, business and banking operations.
  • Good knowledge of money markets, equity trading, margin trading and other capital market instruments.

Manager, Trading

Reports to: Head of Treasury

Job Purpose

To manage the Asset and Liabilities position with a view to optimize the value of the bank’s resources and implement controls as per Bank policy to ensure that risks associated with Asset and Liability are managed. the The position holder will be charged with the management of the Bank’s Foreign exchange and interest rates in line with the Equity Bank’s business growth strategy.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Business-related field from an accredited institution.
ACI Dealing Certificate is a must.

• At least 6 years of progressive experience in treasury /financial markets trading.

Knowledge of foreign exchange markets and trends of major currencies

Thorough understanding of the local and international financial services industry.

Financial analysis Skills: Ability to analyze market information and provide structured solutions.

Analytical business and investment appraisal Skills: Able to provide advice and cause/effect evaluation to support business decision making.

Segment Head, SME

Reports to: Executive Director – Commercial

Job Purpose

To drive the strategic agenda for SME & Retail Banking Sector through Customer Acquisition & Retention; Balance Sheet growth, Maintenance of a high quality Asset portfolio and Development of SME & Retail Products in line with the overall bank’s business objectives.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized University.
  • A postgraduate/ master’s degree in a Business-related field will be an added advantage.
  • At least 10-15 years of relevant banking experience, preferably with at least 5 years at a senior managerial position in Corporate banking.
  • Understanding of the relevant laws, regulations and practices pertaining to Corporate Banking products.
  • Personal integrity, self-motivation and self-management.
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Analytical business and investment appraisal Skills.

Collections Manager

JOB REF: CREDIT/EBUL 04/2024/4

Reports to: Head of Credit

Job Purpose

To proactively manage collections on the Pre-Non-Performing Loans and Non-Performing Loans exposures of Equity Bank Uganda Limited in order to maximize collections, Portfolio at Risk and provisions within set parameters, and ensure full compliance with statutory regulations and guidelines as well as internal policies and procedures.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in economics, Statistics, Commerce, Business Administration or equivalent.
  • 5 years experience in a Financial Institution with at least 1 – 2 years’ experience in credit approval & structuring, credit administration and debt recovery.
  • Leadership skills and proven experience in people management.
  • Financial analysis skills.
  • Awareness of current economic events and commercial banking best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of internal Credit policies.
  • Thorough knowledge of FIA/IFRS guidelines & regulations on asset quality.
  • Good knowledge of the national legal system/framework with emphasis on the Mortgage Act.
  • Awareness of the Consumer Protection guidelines.
  • High degree of attention to details.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of banking regulations, policies and procedures relating to Loan Workout processes. 
  •  Knowledge and understanding of the laws, processes, and documentation about foreclosures, legal action, and solvency/bankruptcies, and recovery of delinquent commercial loans.

Fraud Risk Manager

JOB REF: RISK/EBUL 04/2024/5

Reports to: Senior Manager Operational Risk

Job Purpose

To proactively engage with business stakeholders to implement fraud management strategies and support the business in anticipating, identifying, assessing, and responding to emerging fraud risks and Identify opportunities for proactive fraud prevention and detection across services, products, channels/platforms.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, information technology or law. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) will be considered an advantage.
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in Financial Services with at least 3 years’ experience in fraud risk management, prevention, detection, or investigations.
  • Understanding of fraud risks, business controls, regulatory issues, and market practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with other teams and influence change within business units and teams.
  • Effective negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and data analysis capability.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
