Accountant

The  Accountant will manage the chapter’s financial transactions, ensuring  accuracy and compliance with financial regulations including the chapter policies. This role includes taking part in documenting the finance management process at the chapter secretariat, preparing financial reports, budgeting, and assisting with financial audits.

Detailed Job Description:

  1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using the QuickBooks accounting software.
  2. Perform invoicing, processing accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring timely and accurate payments with records from the QuickBooks application.
  3. Keep records of sales, revenue, and invoices.
  4. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for the chapter and send them to the Executive Secretary/ Business Development Manager and Board of Directors.
  5. Reconcile bank statements and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions
  1. Prepare and submit tax returns and ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
  2. Assist with financial audits and implement audit recommendations as necessary.
  3. Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making processes.
  4. Maintain confidentiality of all financial and member information of the Chapter.
  5. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Secretary and the Board of Directors.

Experience and Qualifications

  1.       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  2.       Training in Professional accounting certifications e.g., CPA, ACCA track preferred.
  3.       Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  4.       Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software.
  5.       Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6.       Attention to detail and accuracy.
  7.       Strong organisational and time management skills.
  8.       Ability to work objectively, independently and as part of a team.
