Accountant – General Ledger & Fixed Assets

Full-time

The Main purpose of the Accountant – General Ledger & Fixed Assets is to manage the Company’s Fixed Assets ensuring compliance with accounting policies as well as maintaining accurate and compliant financial records on the General Ledger.

Reporting to: Manager – Financial Operations

Division – Finance

 

Responsibilities

Main Job Functions:

Asset Management

  1. Timely and accurate processing of monthly fixed asset transactions including additions, retirements, and transfers.
  2. Conduct periodic- asset physical count – analyse, tag, and report the assets status.
  3. Reconciliation of fixed asset ledger to the general ledgers.
  4. Monitor systems of controls, procedures, and forms for the recordation of fixed assets.
  5. Review and update the detailed schedule of fixed assets and CIP.
  6. Track projects for asset capitalization.
  7. Calculate monthly depreciation.
  8. Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
  9. Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries.

 

General Ledger Maintenance

  1. Prepare journal entries.
  2. Support Monthly and Annual Close Processes.
  3. Assist other finance sections in accounting issues and queries.
  4. Perform Balance Sheet reconciliations and analysis of General Ledger accounts.
  5. Monitor compliance of manual journals to the COA (Accuracy and Completeness).
  6. Support Treasury and Accounts Payable with supplier disbursements.
  7. Support in the month end reporting processes.
  8. Assist the auditors (Internal and External) in their inquiries.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor of commerce or any business degree with accounting as a major, or part qualification in ACCA, CPA

Experience:

  • 2 years’ working experience in a busy financial operations environment.
  • Ability to work well with people as this job has a lot of people dependencies.

  • Ability to tolerate pressure
  • Flexible and self-motivated with a positive attitude
