JOB TITLE: Accounts Officer
REPORTS TO: Head of Finance and Operations

Minimum Requirements:

Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Financial Management with an accounting option, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
• Minimum level (1) of Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is a MUST.
• A minimum of 3 years of working experience in Accounting and Finance from a reputable institution in the Public, Private, or NGO sector.

Should Have Knowledge Of:

• Computerized accounting systems.
• Understanding of Accounting Principles, i.e., AS/IFRS.
• Company taxation in Uganda.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Verify the authenticity of all payments and ensure accuracy before payment.
• Manage debtors and creditors accounts in line with the Company’s finance policy and guidelines.
• Reconcile supplier accounts and prepare payment schedules.
• Prepare company accounts, tax and statutory returns, and any other financial reports required by the Head of Finance.
• Respond to internal and external inquiries and queries in liaison with the Head of Finance.
• Carry out bank reconciliations and prepare statements on bank accounts in line with UPHL financial accounting procedures.
• Timely journalize inventory adjustments for purchase returns, expiries, damages, donations, and internally consumed stock items.
• Prepare and post journal entries and pass them to the Head of Finance for approval.
• Support the preparation of periodic reports.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance and/or Management.
