Assistant Accountant

The New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Ltd is looking to recruit a dynamic and self motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Accountant.
Reports to: Principal Accountant
Duty Station: Head Office
Description of purpose: Supports in completing basic book keeping, clerical and accounting tasks for the company.
Key Result Areas:
- Coordination with the Principal Accountant and other team members to successfully execute accounting tasks.
- Maintain ledgers and daily financial transactions, identify discrepancies, track and correct them.
- Verify payments and deposits made through the company account and coordinate with the bank.
- Create financial documents such as receipts, invoices, purchase orders, delivery notes, journals etc.
- Generate daily reports for management and other team members.
- Compiles information as directed by the supervisor and inputs data into excel.
- Coordinate and manage payment of external service providers, contractors, vendors, freelancers, sales executives.
- Day to day reconciliation of accounts.
- Maintain a proper filing system and assists in retrieving documents as and when they are required by the various stake holders.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration.
Working Experience:
- Experience working in a busy FMCG environment.
- Experience in double entry.

- Knowledgeable and use of standard accounting software.
- Good analytical skills.

SCOPE FOR IMPACT:
The Finance department supports the organization in preparation of financial statements, utilization and allocation of resources by investing in viable ventures, carry out procurements, collecting money from debtors and keeping custody of company’s assets.
- The Assistant Accountant must have knowledge in the use of the accounting software in order to enter information into the system, for example entry of commission claims, posting of invoices and receipts.
They should be able to identify errors and correct them upon authorization from the supervisor. - Assists in filing and retrieving of documents when they are needed
- Works independently as per the guidelines in the finance manual and the work is continuously reviewed.
