Assistant Project Manager

Full-time

The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager in planning and executing the Upcycling Project. Responsibilities include administrative tasks, budget management, and communication with clients and stakeholders.

 

Scope

The Assistant Project Manager will assist the Project Manager in overseeing subordinate staff activities in Imvepi and Rhino Camp under the Upcycling Project.


Key Responsibilities

Project Planning

  • Prepare periodic work plans alongside the Project Officer in line with project schedules and documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Project Officer in planning and implementing Upcycling Project activities.

Project Implementation

  • Participate in mobilization, sensitization, and training of project beneficiaries on appropriate methodologies as outlined in the project document.
  • Work with local authorities, community leaders, relevant civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations, collaborating/implementing partners, and other stakeholders to achieve objectives and facilitate implementation.
  • Manage the CCB groups formed after training, ensuring quality of activities provided to beneficiaries and fostering idea sharing within groups.
  • Ensure that project objectives and outputs are achieved according to work plans outlined in the project document.
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to CCB groups, prepare reports on visits, and share them with the Project Manager.
  • Contribute to organizational learning through systematic documentation, monitoring, evaluation, and sharing of information with the project team.

Staff Supervision

  • Lead field-based teams by providing clear work plans, supervision, guidance, and mentoring.
  • Encourage effective teamwork and foster a team spirit through regular meetings and reporting mechanisms for each team member.

Project Monitoring and Reporting

  • Facilitate active participation of staff, beneficiaries, and intermediaries in planning, implementing, and evaluating project activities.
  • Conduct regular project site visits to ensure activities align with project documentation.
  • Monitor project outputs and outcomes, addressing problems that arise during implementation.
  • Ensure proper mapping of project sites and share information promptly with the project team.

Documentation and Data Management

  • Update the beneficiary support database to track progress per project documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Business Trainer to capture and update the progress of funded CCB groups.
  • Collect and document success stories or testimonials showing project impact on beneficiaries.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with community leaders and local authorities.

Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree: Business Administration, Development Studies, Entrepreneurial Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a Project Officer in the NGO sector.
  • Work experience in West Nile is an added advantage.
  • Experience with rural projects and a willingness to handle extended work schedules.
  • Trustworthy, discreet, and ethical professional behavior.
