BCP and Data Centre Officer

Full-time

I&M Bank is hiring a BCP and Data Centre Officer to ensure business continuity by maintaining the security, availability, and performance of data centre infrastructure, backups, and system recovery documentation. Implement robust security measures to protect computer databases and develop system reports aligned with business needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Database Management:
    • Implement and manage Oracle Databases (mandatory), MSSQL, and MySQL.
    • Maintain system backups and database replications.
    • Generate and verify storage, archiving, backup, and recovery procedures for all bank databases.
    • Design and maintain processes and flowcharts for database interconnections and data flow.
  • Infrastructure and Security:
    • Design virtual infrastructure (Hyper-V, VMware) and storage for data centre systems to optimize performance and avoid bottlenecks.
    • Test and patch databases, servers, and storage systems to ensure up-to-date security.
    • Review and upgrade device firmware and operating systems to mitigate vulnerabilities.
    • Evaluate and recommend security improvements and system upgrades.
  • System Performance and Monitoring:
    • Monitor system performance (availability, utilization) through daily log reviews.
    • Test system performance and provide statistics on utilization for decision-making.
    • Develop and maintain data centre portfolio procedures to stabilize configurations per industry standards.
  • Disaster Recovery and Documentation:
    • Schedule and conduct periodic Disaster Recovery Drills to test business continuity.
    • Maintain and update data centre design architecture and connectivity documentation.
    • Develop, review, and update software user guides and technical manuals per departmental policies and SLAs.
  • System Support and Reporting:
    • Provide technical support, troubleshoot system failures, errors, and GL account reconciliations, and investigate system manipulations or imbalances.
    • Design, develop, and review system reports to meet departmental and bank policies.
    • Coordinate system upgrades and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
  • Vendor and Team Coordination:
    • Collaborate with ICT vendors on system issues, maintenance, troubleshooting, and contract/license renewals.
    • Work closely with the Manager Enterprise Systems, providing reports on security, performance, capacity planning, and database operations.
    • Train direct database power users and support system users.
Key Skills Required
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Databases (mandatory), MSSQL, and MySQL.
  • Expertise in designing virtual infrastructure (Hyper-V, VMware) and storage systems.
  • Proficiency in testing, patching, and securing databases, servers, and storage systems.
  • Strong monitoring and problem-solving skills for system performance and logs.
  • Ability to develop procedures for backups, recovery, and disaster recovery drills.
  • Knowledge of coding languages (Python, Java, C++) and software development life cycle.
  • Experience with core banking systems and data management.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver services effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for vendor coordination and team collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Professional Certifications (preferred):
    • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CCNP Security.
    • Security certifications: Symantec DLP, SIEM, CEH, OSCP, CISSP, ISO 27001.
    • Wireless technologies, F5 LTM/APM, Imperva WAF/DAM, Fortinet NSE4-8.
    • ITILv3, NSX, Azure Fundamentals/MCSA.
Work Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated experience in:
    • Data centre business continuity.
    • Database management (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL).
    • Storage management and virtual infrastructure.
Required Competencies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, and relevant frameworks.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle and process improvement.
  • Expertise in data management and core banking systems.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage competing tasks effectively.
  • Commitment to service delivery and operational excellence.
