Brewing Process Operator

Job Purpose:

The key purpose of this role is to implement and uphold AB Inbev safety standards. Supervise the distribution operations through overseeing the delivery planning, truck scheduling, and timely dispatch of goods so that customer service levels can be optimized and whilst achieving benchmarked productivity standards. Grow profitability by exploiting delivery mode opportunities..

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Adherence to health, safety and environmental standards:

  • To ensure that company and legal driving and vehicle regulations are adhered to
  • To track and ensure compliance to driver working hours per regulatory guidelines
  • Adherence to and maintenance of site housekeeping standards
  • Wearing the correct PPE always as designated by site and area
  • Full implementation and adherence to DPO protocols and incorporation of safety guidelines in all delivery SOP’s.

 

Distribution Supervision

  • Ensure compliance to 5s standards within and around the distribution operations and show evolution
  • Cascade all global policies and ensure compliance to them
  • Continuously validate SOP’s through management routines by using tools and ensure understanding by all distribution employees (LnA, SCL, OWD etc.)
  • Update and use of team rooms for routine meetings and problem solving
  • Maintain SCL routines and track adherence thereof
  • Use problem solving tools such as 5Why, Abnormality Reports, SIC, OPL’s, RACI’s, OWD’s, PDCA’s etc. to develop action plans to show improvement in PI’s and KPI”
  • Cascade KPI’s and PI’s to individual distribution employees, standardize the KPI/PI achievements and monitor individual results
  • Ensure adherence to best practice generation process and execute approved projects and show results evolution
  • Ensure driver image is maintained in trade
  • Implement morning meetings before deliveries
  • Routing and scheduling to optimize fleet utilization
  • Allocation of drivers and vehicle resources implemented
  • Contingency plan to ensure truck capacity implemented where required as per standards
  • Key transport legislation pertaining to distribution (truck permits)
  • Perform invoicing roles such as invoice generation, manual invoices, ETA communications, trip sheet generation and invoice filing and record keeping

 

Load plan execution

  • Day to day management of customer related delivery queries or complaints
  • Root cause analysis of queries and complaints conducted to prevent recurrence
  • Ensure drivers adhere to offloading standards at RD’s and POC’s and maintain customer service levels. Establish, document, communicate and train SOP for delivery staff to follow
  • To ensure loading/unloading of products is done as per processes, all products are counted, both at load location and unload locations, and delivery documents are duly signed and issued
  • Review trip sheets for all deliveries and ensure it is captured into IBIS correctly
  • Record and update delivery control register daily

 

Delivery Service Level

  • Ensure adherence to warehouse stock age standards by means of applying stock rotation principles

 

Inventory management:

  • Participate in handover processes before and after every shift
  • Accurate daily stock counts, duly signed off before and after each shift
  • Supervise containers handed over to production and ensure its of good quality to avoid DCBL
  • Receive full beer from production and ensure agreement between all parties on quantity received
  • Control warehouse breakages and inventory losses and show continuous improvement in tracking of these losses
  • Credit empties returns into warehouse in time per the SOP
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with Inventory Analyst/Clerk and or Stocks and Settlement Officer

 

Cost control

  • To observe standard provided for fuel usage per hour, reduce idling time, no excessive breaking etc.
  • To ensure breakages and missing bottles are eliminated to zero by following safe driving principles
  • Ensure breakages in transit are tracked by driver and transporter. Take the necessary action where required
  • Reduction in driver overtime
  • Distribution casual cost management
  • T2 cost management (hired trucks and fuel cost management)
  • T1 cost management for depot transfers
  • Driver allowances cost management
  • Third party invoice reconciliations

 

Reports :

  • To ensure pre-trip inspection forms are filled out accurately daily
  • Accurate fuel records are kept, and fuel reports submitted on time as per process
  • On time submission of any DPO related reports and requirements, such as reporting of SIO’s and all KPI’s and PI’s on weekly and monthly basis.

 

People Management

  • Ensure that the Shop Floor are aligned in terms of goals and meeting routines to drive continuous improvement;
  • Ensures that Monthly One on Ones are conducted in line with the target review process and SKAP progress and alignment;
  • Leave management of team
  • Accountable to ensure disciplinary process are followed and actions taken where needed per company policy and procedures
  • Follow up on Engagement Survey results with clear actions to correct areas of concern;
  • Recruitment of talent and building of pipeline;
  • Perform 180 reviews and address poor performance where required by means of improvement plans and or disciplinary hearings.
  • Identify and address training needs for drivers

 

Education

  • Degree in Logistics and or Supply Chain

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in managing financial performance in FMCG or Beverage industry
  • Experience on supporting senior managers on decision making

 

Competency Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years warehouse and or logistics experience
  • High level of computer literacy (MS Office, Syspro, Teams, etc.)
  • Syspro proficient.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong numerical capabilities especially around budgeting and cost optimization initiatives
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to adapt to change effectively
  • Results oriented
  • Excellent coaching capability
