Claims Analyst

Full-time

The Claims Analyst will process claims efficiently, expeditiously and professionally to meet customer’s expectations and the overall departmental objectives.

 

Department:  Claims Department

Reports To: Assistant Manager-Claims

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB/KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Register and process reported claims and advice clients on the required claims supporting documents.
  • Communicate to the customers through claim acknowledgment, and update to intermediary/insured/claimant on the claim status.
  • Accurately post, maintain and review claims reserves on a continuous basis.
  • Assist in the determination of settlement amount and issue discharge vouchers for fully documented claims under instructions from assigned supervisors.
  • Initiate claim recoveries from the reinsurers and follow up recovery.
  • Evaluate preliminary claim information and revert to the intermediaries or insured for more information where necessary to ensure that the correct information is documented for ease in processing the claim.
  • Liaise with the underwriting department by notifying them of risk improvement issues noted as well as reviewing of policy wordings on areas that need a change in the policies.
  • Resolve customer complaints and disputes swiftly, fairly and diplomatically.
  • Prepare and submit various claims analysis reports for clients and management consumption
  • Any other duty as may be listed in the detailed job description or assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES

Proven interpersonal, social and communication skills

High Level of Personal and Professional Integrity

Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing or related field.

Professional Qualifications- Professional insurance qualification is an added advantage.

Relevant Experience: Minimum of two (02) years of experience in general insurance claims department .
