Clinical Director

Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) is hiring a Clinical Director to support the clinical teams in the provision of high-quality, sustainable, and reproducible clinical services for the sub-Saharan African context. This is both a responsibility post and a training post for those wishing to continue in the Palliative Care specialty.
HAU operates through three clinical sites:
- Hospice Kampala
- Mobile Hospice Mbarara
- Little Hospice Hoima
HAU introduced modern methods of pain and symptom control, as well as holistic-centered care, for patients and families, suitable for LMICs (Low- and Middle-Income Countries) as well as for wealthier populations.
Specific Duties
- Support the team by providing medical input into the assessment of all new patients at HAU and offer advice where necessary.
- Assist the HAU Team with medical knowledge appropriate to end-of-life care and other conditions.
- Work as an essential part of the clinical team, focusing particularly on the most difficult cases.
- Participate in writing and publishing Palliative Care research and papers to disseminate information about African Palliative Care.
- Provide strategic direction on clinical matters and serve as a member of the Senior Management Team.
- Develop and implement clinical department work plans, document best practices, and establish department policies and procedures.
- Audit the performance of the clinical department against planned activities and outcomes.
- Report on the clinical department’s strategy and work plans.
- Develop and manage the clinical department budget.
- Support, supervise, and review the performance of medical teams.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Family Medicine
- Experience in Palliative Care is an added advantage
