Coffee Trader

Full-time

To support Ibero’s ambitious growth plans, we are looking for a:

Coffee Trader – Ibero Uganda Limited (f/m/d).

The position will be based in our Kampala Uganda office and will report directly to the Country Manager of Ibero Uganda Limited.

Your Responsibilities

Market Analysis:

  • Monitor and analyze global coffee market trends, including supply and demand, price movements, and geopolitical factors.
  • Research coffee production, weather patterns, and other factors affecting the market.

Trading:

  • Develop and implement trading strategies to maximize profits.
  • Execute buy and sell orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Manage inventory levels and ensure timely delivery of products.

Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, buyers, brokers, and other stakeholders.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers and buyers.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with trading activities.
  • Monitor and manage exposure to price volatility and other market risks.
  • Utilize hedging strategies and financial instruments to protect against adverse market movements.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of trading activities, contracts, and transactions.
  • Prepare regular reports on market trends, trading performance, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other traders, analysts, and logistics teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide market insights and support to other departments as needed.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in coffee trading.
  • Understanding of risk management principles and hedging strategies.
  • Knowledge of global coffee markets and supply chains.
  • Understanding of general finance and budgeting.
  • Fluent in English, Luganda would be an advantage
  • The coffee cupping experience will be an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel frequently
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions.
