Commercial Officer- Market Intelligence and Pricing

This Commercial Officer- Market Intelligence and Pricing will be responsible for gathering, preparing and presenting data from internal and external sources to identify and monitor market and economic conditions relevant to national and global trends in the transportation and supply chain industry. The officer will also be responsible for negotiating competitive rates and value propositions for clients to maximise revenue and profits for Multilines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Relate to clients and understand their concerns and bring them to the attention of the respective officers in Multilines.
- Conducting business reviews and surveys to ensure clients are satisfied with Multilines’ services.
- Gather data from internal and external sources to identify and monitor market and economic conditions relevant to national and global trends in transportation and supply chain.
- Develop and maintain relationships pertinent to staying informed with ongoing trends in the freight economy. This includes data providers and market experts as well as shipper and carrier contacts.
- Monitor and forecast freight and logistics market and other macroeconomic trends.
- Perform trend analysis on business operations to support internal strategic initiatives and process improvement.
- Leverage data to review business trends, variance in trends and dig into reasons of variance with potential actions for the business.
- Convert complex data and findings into understandable tables, graphs, and written reports for stakeholders across the business to absorb and apply.
- Record and communicate feedback on market research calls with clients in the SAP Business One system in order to help build a better product and also develop new business with these clients.
- Coordinate clients and cross-functional internal teams to ensure the timely and successful delivery of our solutions according to customer needs.
- Generating cost sheets and quotations within an ERP system.
- Participate in tendering processes.
- Negotiating prices with clients to ensure maximum revenue for Multilines.
- Purposefully visit clients and/or arrange meetings regularly to ensure continuous engagement with clients and to forecast future business with them.
- Develop, monitor and update the list of clients with an ERP system categorising as appropriate for quality assurance.
KPIs
- Up to date Categorised list of clients in SAP Business One.
- Positive feedback from clients with evidence
- Customer retention rate > 90%
- Client Restoration rate > 80%
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in procurement and logistics, Sales & Marketing, International business or any related course.
- Additionally, a diploma or certification in freight forwarding and customs clearance is an advantage.

- 5 years of experience in market research, pricing and sourcing in the logistics and freight forwarding field.

- Communication skills: The ability to communicate well with customers, carriers, transporters and freight forwarding agents.
- Negotiation skills: The ability to negotiate well with airlines, shipping lines, and overseas agents.
- Computer skills: Proficiency with Microsoft productivity tools such as PowerPoint, excel and others. Proficiency in the use of SAP business one or a similar ERP
- Knowledge of international shipping: A strong understanding of export/import documentation and international shipping
- Network: A good network of contacts within shipping lines, import agents, and cross trade businesses.
