Stipend: UGX 400,000 (Monthly)

Length of contract: 6 Months
Reports to: Communications Officer
Expected travel: Regular domestic travels will be made

About the role
The Communications Intern will be responsible for assigned communications roles including supporting the execution of the organization’s communications strategy. You will liaise with the Communications Officer in providing support for the different thematic functions in the organization.
Key responsibilities:
Social Media handling and Management (50%)
- Work together with the Communications Officer to manage and grow the organization’s digital platforms.
- Work with relevant teams and projects’ leads to implement other channel-specific media campaigns and ensure project visibility online.
- Ideate and commemorate key dates like the 16 days of activism, World AIDS Day, World Volunteer Day, World Human Rights day etc.
- Performing any other assignments related to the Hub’s Communication Strategy
Content Development (40%):
- Develop and edit high-quality videos and photographs to engage external stakeholders.
- Story gathering and storytelling (generating, writing and designing stories of change) to share the impact of our work.
- Designing, branding and information education and communication (IEC) materials.
Community Engagement and Mobilization (5%)
- Interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Work with the Communications Officer and Business Development team to organise and coordinate National Youth working Group meetings.
Other duties as required (5%)
- Other duties as required.
- Occasionally working on weekends, late night in case of volunteer incidents and holidays for which time off in lieu can be taken.
Skills and experience
Essential
- A relevant diploma or a degree program in Communications, Journalism, graphics design or any relevant field.
- Ideal candidate should be a recent graduate or in the early stages of their career and lives in or within Kampala.
- Willing to travel on a regular basis to the field
- Content production; video, graphics design and photography experience
- Knowledge of Adobe Suite i.e. editing using (Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva.
- Knowledge of the social media platforms
- Ability to work independently, manage tasks efficiently, and meet deadlines.
Desirable
- Strong communication and writing skills
- Good computer skills especially in the use of publishing tools
- Creative and takes initiative.
- Able to work effectively in a diverse team environment
- Willing to work additional hours at crucial times
- Interpersonal and relationship building skills.
- Event planning skills
