Communications Officer

Key Responsibilities:

Communication:

  • Develop and implement SF Uganda’s communication and branding strategy.
  • Design a digital communication strategy to enhance online visibility and align with SF’s objectives.
  • Manage social media engagement and ensure the SF Uganda website and affiliated platforms are updated.
  • Collaborate with media houses to produce approved content.
  • Draft, produce, and edit various information materials, including newsletters, reports, press releases, and social media content.
  • Train staff and partners to follow communication protocols.
  • Support marketing and communication initiatives from SF headquarters in Kristiansand (KRS).

Marketing and Brand Visibility:

  • Produce high-quality photos, videos, case studies, and success stories showcasing SF’s impact.
  • Manage SF branding in Uganda and train staff/partners to use branding effectively.
  • Lead visibility efforts at events and identify opportunities to enhance SF’s brand.
  • Prepare content for SF’s website and social media channels, assuming editorial responsibility.
  • Coordinate the design and procurement of branded materials like banners and calendars.

Public Relations and Information Management:

  • Manage SF Uganda’s social media and public email accounts, responding to inquiries and disseminating information.
  • Share program results, research findings, and policy briefs.
  • Support fundraising and donor management efforts.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a communications or media officer, preferably in an NGO.
  • Proficiency in photography, videography, video editing, and graphic design for social media.
  • Skilled in using social media platforms and Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Expertise in tools such as Adobe Suite, Canva, MailChimp, and other digital media platforms.
  • Experience in developing IEC materials, documentation, and publication.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write press releases and articles.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with exceptional attention to detail.
