Compliance Data Protection Officer
Full-time
The Compliance Data Protection Officer will primarily oversee internal compliance and data practices to ensure the business and its functions adhere to the requirements of the Data Protection and Privacy Act. The role involves implementing data protection and privacy policies and procedures, as well as regularly assessing the bank’s data privacy and protection practices for compliance.
Reports to: Compliance Manager
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to review projects and related data, ensuring compliance with local data privacy laws.
- Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure full compliance with the Data Protection and Privacy Act.
- Review vendor contracts and consents in partnership with the bank’s procurement and legal functions, ensuring compliance with local regulators.
- Monitor changes to local privacy laws and make recommendations for necessary adjustments.
- Conduct awareness training on data protection and privacy for bank employees.
- Collaborate with the Information Security function to maintain records of all data assets, data loss incidents, and any data security breaches.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to respond to data subject inquiries regarding the use and security of their personal data.
- Ensure that requests from data subjects to access, erase, or modify their personal data are honored according to policy guidelines.
- Fulfill all reporting obligations of the bank.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
- Qualification in an ICT-related field is an added advantage.
- Possession of CDPO and/or CDPSE certifications is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in banking.
- Highly analytical with the ability to prioritize needs and requirements.
- Proper understanding of banking regulations, including but not limited to FIA and DPPA.
- Strong communication, teamwork, flexibility, and conflict management skills.
- Good working knowledge of SLAs and policies.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Good working knowledge of information security principles, standards, frameworks, and guidelines.
- High integrity and confidentiality.
