Cybersecurity Officer

Contract

The role of the Cybersecurity Officer is to assist with the day-to-day operations of securing Baylor Foundation Uganda’s information systems, providing technical expertise in all areas of network, system, and application security, and proactively working with the rest of the ICT team to ensure that systems and networks are continuously designed, developed, deployed, and managed with robust and effective security and risk management controls.

 

 

Overall Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement security systems to protect Baylor-Uganda’s systems and computer networks from cyber-attacks and help set and maintain security standards.
  2.  Support deploying and managing security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).
  3.  Monitor and review the Baylor Uganda network, servers, and other ICT infrastructure to detect, assess potential impact, and mitigate any risks and cyberattacks. 4. Investigate and respond to real-time security incidents and alerts within the Baylor Foundation Uganda environment.
  4. Regularly review all Baylor systems, identify vulnerabilities, and ensure the necessary software is installed to guard against unauthorized access and breaches.
  5. Conduct periodic vulnerability assessments and penetration tests on applications, systems, and networks to identify weaknesses and support mitigation implementation. 7. Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management processes to effectively identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
  6. Review the change management process, ensuring that all changes in the system have corresponding approvals.
  7.  Support the creation, maintenance, and delivery of relevant cyber security training and user awareness programs to ensure an Information security-compliant culture.
  8. Support the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  9. Generate regular security reports, incident analysis reports, and metrics for management.
  10. Maintain accurate and complete security records and risk registers.
  11. Develop company-wide best practices for IT security.
  12. Stay up-to-date on ICT security standards, trends, and news, and make recommendations to management.

Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:

  •  A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Security, or any related course·     A minimum of 4 years of working experience in a similar role in a highly computerized environment.
  • Relevant IT Security professional qualifications, e.g., CISA, CISM, CISSP, CEH, CompTIA Security+, or other relevant security certifications.
  • 4 Years Relevant Experience
