AirQo was founded to bridge the gap in air quality data across African cities. We are looking for passionate and motivated university students to join our team as a Data Engineering Intern. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data engineering, working on real-world projects that contribute to our mission of cleaner air in all African cities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assisting in the design, building, and maintenance of data pipelines.

Implementing ETL processes to efficiently ingest and extract data from various sources.

Working with data warehouses and big data tools like Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.

Automating data processing tasks to streamline data flow.

Collaborating with data scientists and functional leaders to deploy machine learning models.
PERSON SPECIFICATION ESSENTIAL

Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Basic understanding of Python, Linux Programming, and data storage systems (SQL, NoSQL).

Familiarity with Google or similar cloud-based tools and technologies.

Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of data engineering.
DESIRABLE
-
Interest in data science and machine learning.
-
Experience or interest in the Internet of Things and Air Quality.
