Debt Analyst

Full-time

The Debt Analyst will assist the Head of Debt Finance, manage the Debt and Commercial Asset Finance (CAF) products including all the activities required to grow the franchise in an effective manner, including appropriate pricing and structuring and focusing on cross sell.

Transaction Structuring & Management – 30%

 

  • Structure and execute transactions whilst demonstrating key business competencies.
  • Develop simple models and stress scenarios to determine debt capacity for debt and CAF transactions.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and development of client relationships through the origination of value-added, creative ideas and solutions.
  • Preparing pitch books and presentations after analyzing opportunities and financials for clients on the target clients’ list.
  • Support transaction structuring and execution with a focus on revenue-generating opportunities

Business Management – 30%

 

  • Maintain and update the Debt and CAF pipeline.
  • Contribute to the development of business unit strategy.
  • Environmental scanning for new debt and CAF opportunities
  • Research and share information to ensure up to date knowledge of marketplace, business development activity / initiatives and competitors
  • Assist coverage in originating and executing debt transactions across all teams.
  • Collaborate with specialist product partners (Trade, Cash, and Treasury) to offer clients a comprehensive and competitive package to meet their requirements.

Stakeholder Management 20%

 

  • Cultivate relationships with clients and build sustainable relationships with clients based on transparency and honesty.
  • Proactively develop relationships with key stakeholders internal and external e.g.: compliance, legal, and key clients identified.
  • Build and develop relationships across the firm with various stakeholders with the intention of breaking down silos to maximize business growth.
  • Mobilize and influence stakeholders towards strategic objectives by providing guiding principles toward best practices and goals-means-end theory.

Research perspective -10%

 

  • Investigate and embark on a continuous market scanning to identify and stay abreast of market trends and activities to inform opportunities for new or enhanced products and services.
  • Initiate market research relating to the product alignment to client needs, competitors and future trends to ensure sustained profitability for Absa and competitive advantage.
  • Engage in networking activities, e.g., attending relevant industry conferences, to stay abreast of changes in the industry, aligning portfolio specific processes, product offering and procedures to absorb the impact of change.

Teamwork – 5%

 

  • Supporting and conducting training for coverage teams in country to understand Debt and CAF products more comprehensively.
  • Be responsible for self-development
  • Build collaborative network with the Group Debt teams, Corporate Credit, coverage and legal.

Governance & Control – 5%

 

  • Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate risks and risk events (incidents) relevant to the role.
  • Ensure to provide assurance evidence requested in time.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
