Contract
NFA seeks to recruit a qualified Ugandan to fill the following position.
POSITION: EXECUTIVE OFFICER (1 POSITION)
Reports to: Executive Director
Duty Station: Headquarters Kampala
Salary Scale: NFA 4
Terms of Employment: Three (3) year contract (Renewable)
Job summary: To provide professional and administrative support to the Executive Director and the Board of Directors for effective performance.
Duties and responsibilities
- Receive documents and prepare briefs in regard to meetings, trips, events and other related activities for the Executive Director and Board.
- Follow up actions in the ED’s office in line with the plans and decisions made.
- Ensure timely preparation of reports, briefs, speeches and talking points on various issues pertaining to the office of Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Undertake research on assigned matters and prepare summaries for the Executive Director’s attention and action.
- Manage the Executive Director’s diary and related logistics to ensure that s/he meets timelines in the execution of his/her duties.
- Act as a liaison officer with the external stakeholders and respond to their inquiries, queries, complaints and provide technical advice to them in conformity with the NFA Tree Planting Act and ED’s decisions.
- Support the ED in organising, arranging and coordinating matters of Board and Management meetings.
- Coordinate domestic and international travels for the Executive Director and Board.
- Budget and monitor expenditure in ED’s office and coordinate use of resources in line with financial and operational guidelines.
- Review intelligence information from informers and forward to the relevant responsible centres and
generate reports to the ED in line with the organizational procedures. - Prepare quarterly work plans and timely performance reports for the Executive Director.
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, work experience and interpersonal attributes/competences
- Possession of an Honors Bachelor’s degree in either Secretarial, Office Management, Public
Administration, Business Administration (Management option) or Law from a recognised institution. - Should have a minimum of at least three (3) years working experience in office administration as Executive Assistant/Personal Assistant to an Executive Officer in a reputable organisation.

POSITION: ECO-TOURISM SUPERVISOR (3 POSITIONS)
Reports to: Sector Manager
Duty Station: Field Offices/Transferable
Salary Scale: NFA 7
Terms of Employment: Three (3) year contract (Renewable)
Job summary: Effective management of eco-tourism sites and attractions for conservation and sustainable management of Central Forest Reserves.
Duties and responsibilities
- Implement guidelines for managing ecotourism sites and attractions.
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of ecotourism activities and plans.
- Participate in formulation of partnership agreements and MOUs between NFA, forest adjacent
communities, public and private institutions and implement them. - Provide technical support and participate in identification and development of ecotourism sites and
attractions in CFRs. - Implement strategies for efficient revenue collection from both licensed and NFA operated sites.
- Prepare situational and progress reports.
- Network with relevant District Local Government, Local Communities, private institutions and partners in promoting of ecotourism.
- Supervise, appraise, coach, mentor and build staff capacity including patrol Personnel and Tour Guides.
- Maintain visitors’ register.
- Ensure safety of visitors and NFA assets.
- Manage bookings and reservations and participate in exhibitions and fairs to market and promote
ecotourism products in CFRs. - Brief and provide nature interpretation to tourists and other stakeholders.
- Develop forest trails and other infrastructure and ensure that they are regularly maintained.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, work experience and interpersonal attributes/competences
- Minimum of a Diploma in Tourism Management from a recognized institution.
- Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management or related field is an added advantage.
- At least two (2) years working experience in a similar or related position in a reputable organization.
- Basic knowledge of forestry and environmental management, well developed customer care skills and knowledge of tour guiding and nature interpretation.
- Minimum of 25 years of age.
- Interpersonal, team building and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Ability to manage ecotourism value chain.
- Customer care, presentable, etiquette and marketing.
- Knowledge of human resource, financial management and administration.
- High level of integrity, resilience and reliability.
- Entrepreneurial ability, acumen and result-oriented.
