Job Purpose:
The job holder will assist the Missing Billion study teams in data collection, transcription, and
monitoring of study activities
Roles & Responsibilities
1. Principal duties;
- Consenting study participants: Administer study information to participants and obtain
informed consent; - Administer survey questions using handheld devices;
- Conduct in-depth interviews;
- Transcribe and translate interview data;
- Code interview data using NVIVO;
- Follow up of research participants; and,
- Assist in organizing dissemination activities.
2. Service Delivery;
It is important that the administrative services are delivered with professionalism and
integrity. This post-holder ensures the services under their control are delivered in a way that
is:
- Responsive
- Prompt communication;
- Pro-active in resolving issues; and,
- Upholding high standards of professionalism.
3. Financial Management;
The Financial management responsibilities of this post include:
- Paying participants time compensations for interviews and transport refund as per study protocol and account for these expenditures to the research assistant and unit administrative staff.
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, community-based rehabilitation, public health or any other relevant field;
• Training in Good Clinical Practice and or Human Subjects Protection;
• Keen interest in disability research
• Should possess experience in administering survey questionnaire and in-depth interview data collection with persons with disabilities;
• Experience in data transcription and translation;
• Experience in data coding in NVIVO is preferred;
• Experience in engaging/ working with persons with disabilities;
• Experience in health worker and DAC training;
• Qualitative and quantitative data collection methods;
• Disability inclusion;
• Should be fluent in written English and spoken English or Ugandan sign language;
• Fluent in Luganda and Lusoga is an added advantage;
• Have a disability as defined by the Uganda’s Disability Act;
• Hardworking and self-driven;
• Flexible;
• Able to work independently as well as a member of a team; and,
• Excellent typing skills.
