Finance & Administrative Officer

The Finance & Administrative Officer will lead efforts to strengthen and develop value chains in the fisheries sector, focusing on empowering women and youth. Enhance the livelihoods of women and young people by improving their participation in fish production, processing, and marketing while fostering equitable and sustainable fisheries practices.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
- Ensure proper and timely recording of all financial transactions in Kilimo Trust’s accounting software.
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and management reports.
- Provide financial insights to facilitate decision-making and guide management and the Board in executing the Kilimo Trust strategy.
Leadership and Relationship Management:
- Manage financial relations with donors, ensuring compliance and timely, high-quality reporting as per grant agreements.
- Conduct regular training sessions for staff and implementing partners/grantees on financial procedures and reporting.
- Effectively supervise staff responsible for finance functions within the organization.
Audit, Compliance, and Risk Management:
- Regularly review and update Kilimo Trust’s financial, risk, and procurement manuals to ensure compliance with best practices and international standards.
- Promote effective risk management in line with the organization’s Risk Management framework.
- Ensure compliance with Kilimo Trust’s policies and statutory financial regulations for all country offices.
Program Development, Planning, and Implementation:
- Participate in fundraising efforts, including budget preparation for project proposals.
- Actively engage in identifying fundraising opportunities.
- Analyze and report on actual and planned monthly expenditures, communicate variances to Team Leaders, and recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a senior management finance position in a Non-Governmental Organization.
- Experience working with regional organizations is an added advantage.
- Qualified Accountant (CPA/ACCA) and member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of their respective country.
- Proven numeracy and financial analysis/planning skills.
- Strong experience in proposal preparation and budget formulation.
- Experience in strategy formulation and program planning processes.
- Understanding of donor financial policies and procedures, particularly for USAID-funded programs.
- Experience in grant management.
- Knowledge of the Odoo system is an advantage.
