Finance Manager

Full-time

WWF is hiring a Finance Manager to provide leadership in financial planning, reporting, and operational analytics, advising the Country Leadership Team (CLT) with key insights. This role oversees the full spectrum of financial operations—accounting, budgeting, reporting, and internal controls—while fostering a culture of accountability. Responsibilities include safeguarding WWF’s financial assets, ensuring compliance with policies, and delivering accurate, timely financial information.

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Supervises: Grants and CSO Partnership Manager & Senior Accountant
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the costing of WWF-Uganda’s strategic and financial sustainability plans.
  • Support proposal development, ensuring budgets meet WWF and donor standards.
  • Prepare consolidated annual budgets, project budgets, and financial forecasts.
  • Monitor budgets, forecast trends, and ensure robust financial oversight.
  • Manage liquidity, cash flow, investments, and foreign exchange risks.
  • Deliver timely management reports and financial analyses for data-driven decisions.
  • Evaluate financial performance, review dashboards, and address deficits.
  • Ensure smooth information flow across the Uganda Country Office (UCO) and Regional Office for Africa (ROA).
  • Adapt WWF International policies to the local context and mitigate financial risks.
  • Coordinate external audits, prepare responses, and ensure compliance with statutory and donor requirements.
  • Lead the Finance team, build capacity, and maintain high performance.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management (minimum); MBA or Master’s in Finance/Accounting preferred. Full accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) required.
  • Experience: 10+ years in finance, including 5+ years in a leadership role within an international organization.
  • Skills: Expertise in financial planning, policy development, and working with government/donors. Proficient in accounting software, advanced MS Excel, and ideally ERP systems. Strong communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
