Finance Officer

Full-time

The Finance Officer will play a crucial role in the financial management of the research business at Mildmay Research Centre Uganda. This position is responsible for grants management, financial accounting, and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles and experience in managing research grants.

Key Result Areas:
• Identify and pursue potential funding sources.
• Develop compelling research proposals.
• Manage grant applications and reporting.
• Build relationships with funders and partners.
• Analyze grant application data.

Qualification & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum Professional Qualification Level 3, CPA, or ACCA.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial management, preferably in a research or non-profit organization.
• Experience in grants management is preferred.
• Experience working with international funding agencies (e.g., NIH, EDCTP, Gates Foundation) is a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards.

• Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics Navision, Excel).
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
