Forklift Operator

Reports to: Senior Accountant-Stores
Duty Station: Main Stores – Kampala

Key Result Areas:

• Load and off-load supplies within established rules and regulations ensuring no items are damaged during the process.
• Accurately transfer items from the warehouse to the factory ensuring no stock mix-up.
• Ensure routine forklift maintenance to guarantee a smooth flow of operations.
• Take note of all stock item movements on the factory floor and report to the Senior Accountant-Stores.
• Assist with the parceling of newspaper returns in 20 kg bundles for sale.
• Load delivered supplies/items into the main store and place them in their respective locations.
• Liaise with the transport and commercial printing offices to avail the forklift for any stock transfers.
• Adhere to safety rules and guidelines while operating the forklift.

Education and Professional Qualifications:

• A Uganda Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level Certificate).
• A valid driving permit with at least three classes: C, B, CM, and DL.

Working Experience:

• At least 2 years of driving experience.

Communications and Working Relations:

Internal:
Work with the Printing department to ensure timely materials to the factory for production.

Scope of Impact:

• Careful operation of the forklift to avoid damaging materials, which are costly inputs to the business.

Technical Competences:

• Forklift driving skills.
• Possess a high regard for safety standards and equipment in the workplace.
• Good knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanisms.
