Graduate Trainee

Department: Network
Job title: Graduate Trainee – Protection, Control & SCADA
Reports to: Protection, Control and SCADA Engineer.

Job purpose: Safe operation and operational planning of the electrical distribution network, maintenance of network protection, Control and SCADA systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate network control operations including preparing and implementing switching and outage schedules.
  • Facilitate and coordinate resolution of network faults on both medium and low voltage networks, including booking, issuing, and managing consumables for faults resolution.
  • Performing protection coordination reviews and relay settings for effective MV network operation.
  • Configure and administer network SCADA system.
  • Participate in site acceptance inspection, testing, and commissioning of network protection and SCADA equipment.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of network protection and SCADA equipment, including but not limited to battery systems, auxiliary supplies, control circuits, relays, IEDs, switchgear, RTUs, among others.
  • Liaise with network construction and maintenance teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to facilitate network construction and maintenance activities including staging and granting outages.
  • Plan and prepare staff shift schedules for network control and faults teams.
  • Prepare routine network operation reports.
  • Any other duties as maybe delegated by the supervisor.

Special Qualifications Required

  • B.Sc. Electrical Engineering with good Information Technology skills
  • Knowledge in Power systems Protection
