Graduate Trainee – Software Engineer (Odoo)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Technical Lead

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing, customizing, and deploying Odoo ERP modules to meet specific client needs.
• Provide technical support for Odoo implementations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring smooth system performance.
• Work on integrating Odoo with third-party systems such as tax systems (e.g., EFRIS), mobile payment platforms (Mobile Money), and communication services (SMS, Airtime, Data).
• Collaborate with the technical team to design and implement custom features within Odoo’s framework using Python, JavaScript, and related technologies.
• Participate in Odoo upgrades and migrations to newer versions, ensuring data integrity and seamless transitions.
• Document technical specifications and provide user training on the use and maintenance of Odoo applications.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in Odoo and contribute to the adoption of best practices in Odoo development.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of Odoo ERP and its architecture (preferred but not mandatory).
• Proficiency in Python and object-oriented programming.
• Familiarity with web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Basic understanding of PostgreSQL, Stored Procedures, and Triggers.
• A willingness to learn and work with Odoo, with a keen interest in ERP systems and software development.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
