Head of Risk Management & Compliance

The Head of Risk Management & Compliance will spearhead the development and implementation of comprehensive risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to safeguard Buganda Land Board’s assets, operations, and reputation.
Reports to: CEO
Key Duties and Responsibilities: Specific duties and responsibilities include:
Risk Management

- Develop, implement, and review risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks to ensure alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify, analyze and prioritize potential risks to the company.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk register. tracking and monitoring risk exposure.
- Design and implement risk mitigation strategies. ensuring effective controls are in place
Compliance
- Develop and implement compliance programs and policies.
- Conduct internal audits to ensure adherence to regulations and standards.
- Training employees on policy compliance requirements and best practices
- Monitor and keep abreast of changes in laws and regulations and spearhead updating policies accordingly.
- Reporting on compliance metrics and addressing any compliance issues
- Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, ensuring segregation of duties and effective oversight.
- Conduct regular assurance reviews to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices
- Identify and address control gaps and weaknesses.
Governance
- Provide risk management guidance to the Board and CEO, ensuring risk considerations are integrated into strategic decision-making
- Attend Board meetings and provide risk updates
- Collaborate with internal audit as part of regular Management and Board committee meetings.
Training and Awareness
- Develop and deliver risk management training programs for employees
- Raise awareness of risk management across the company.
- A Bachelors degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Statistics, Project Management or in any relevant/ related field.
- A Master’s degree in Business Management or related field
- At least 5 years working experience of successfully handling similar responsibilities.
- Experience in real estate, land management, or related industry is an advantage.
