Health Technicians (46)
Contract
The Bureau in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and UN Women intend to conduct the Uganda Malaria Indicator Survey (UMIS) and National Governance, Peace and Security Survey (NGPSS) is seeking to recruit highly competent, motivated, results oriented, dynamic, Health Technicians (46) of good character and high integrity to undertake effective UMIS blood specimen as assigned and guided by the supervisor.

Reports to: Health Technician Supervisor

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in all training sessions.
- Collect blood specimen from eligible respondents
- Test the blood samples for malaria and any other tests as described
- Analyze laboratory findings to check the accuracy of the results
- Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis
- Measure the Hemoglobin levels of eligible respondents using the Hemocue machine
- Enter data from analysis of medical tests or clinical results into the computer for storage
- Provide technical information about test results to respondents in a professional way
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology
- Uganda Advanced Certificate Education (UACE)
- Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with at least a Credit in Maths and English
- Must have written and oral fluency in at least one of these local languages: Ateso, Luganda, Lugbara, Luo, Ngakarimojong, Runyankole — Rukiga, Runyoro — Rutoro, Lusoga, Lumasaaba, Rukonjo
- Prior use of computers or other digital devices for data collection is an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience, with evidence as a health technician.
Skills and other attributes
- Good computer knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Must be available exclusively for the UMIS activity.
