Human Resource Manager

Full-time

Reports To: Deputy Vice Chancellor – Administration and Business Development

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Selection Management: Oversee staff recruitment following approved policies and procedures.
  • Onboarding and Orientation: Facilitate staff integration into the University.
  • Performance and Reward Management: Manage staff evaluation and compensation systems.
  • Training and Development: Develop and implement comprehensive capacity-building programs in coordination with top management.
  • Policy and Legal Compliance: Ensure adherence to University policies, labor, and employment laws.
  • Discipline and Grievance Handling: Address staff concerns and maintain workplace harmony.
  • Benefits and Compensation Management: Administer staff benefits and payroll.
  • HR Information Systems: Develop and manage automated HR systems for efficient utilization.
  • Exit Management: Oversee staff separation processes in line with University policies.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration (HR Option), Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Arts, Social Sciences, or Management.
    • A Master’s degree or a professional qualification in Human Resources Management is an added advantage.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of administrative and HR experience post-bachelor’s degree.
    • At least 4 years at a senior managerial position or equivalent rank in a large, reputable organization.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Leadership, planning, and organizational skills.
    • Decision-making, negotiation, and communication abilities.
    • Integrity, confidentiality, and innovation.
    • Attention to detail and ability to manage stress.
    • Knowledge of labor laws, financial management, and proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Tenure of Appointment:

  • Contract Duration: Four years, renewable subject to a six-month probation period.
