Human Resource Officer

Full-time

Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) is hiring a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resource Officer to support the HR function in ensuring efficient implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices. The ideal candidate will play a key role in recruitment, records management, performance management, employee relations, payroll administration, and compliance with labour laws among others.

Reports to: Senior Human Resource Officer

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process, including job posting, shortlisting, interviews, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Support the implementation of HR policies and ensure compliance with labour laws and organizational policies.
  • Maintain and update employee records and HR databases for accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Process and manage employee benefits, leave applications, and payroll-related data.
  • Assist in training and development programs to enhance employee skills and productivity.
  • Handle employee relations matters, including conflict resolution.
  • Support performance management processes, including appraisals and goal-setting initiatives.
  • Coordinate employee welfare programs and engagement activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workplace.
  • Generate HR reports and analytics to support decision-making.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of relevant HR experience, preferably in a research, healthcare, or NGO setting.
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Dynamics NAV (Navision) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Ugandan labour laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
