Human Resources Intern

The Human Resources Intern provides administrative or technical Human Resources support as per DRC, donor and local law regulations and procedures. This role has a country focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The role contributes to the development of country strategies, which are translated into action plans and day-to-day tasks. The role provides support and/or technical guidance to country operations while overseeing country activities
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and compensations & benefits.
- Ensure staff recruitment and contracting process is in line with DRC procedure and the local labor law.
- Update recruitment tracker.
- Send out job offers and process the paperwork for new hires.
- Send contract request or draft contract and/or contract extension.
- Support administration of on-boarding of new staffs, ensuring records are kept of all induction meetings.
- People planning, performance, development and well-being
- Monitor and update staff leave balance
- Ensure that all staff personnel records are properly maintained and regularly updated
- Update and maintain staff lists
- Ensure that DRC internal documents are filled in correctly
- Support in writing Terms of References for staff
- Administrative tasks in relation to performance and development processes
- Administrative tasks in relation staff development
- Ensure compliance in Human Resources Administration Management to DRC Operations Handbook
- Support people well-being initiatives
- Support staff development activities including promoting the DRC Learning Catalogue.
- Support data clean-up for DRC Dynamics
- Support with preparing and cleaning up staff data for uploading onto DRC ERP – DRC Dynamics
- Support in providing data and statistics to HR manager on HR information every month from Dynamics.
Education:
- Diploma or equivalent professional qualification in Administration, HR or any other related field
Experience and technical competencies:
- Minimum 1 year of working experience with carrying out admin tasks
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Programmes (E.g. Excel and Word)
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Basic understanding of Uganda labor law
- Advanced English proficiency
- Fluency in local language
