Information Technology Manager

ZTE Uganda is hiring an experienced and passionate Information Technology Manager who reports to the Head of operations and project Manager. He provides hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, and recommendations about future planning and development of resources. Providing these services in an effective and efficient manner will ensure maximum access to and implementation of technological services and resources.
To ensure projects are executed using best practice Project management guidelines.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, and Network Administration or related field preferred. 5 + years of related work experience required. With certification in
• ITIL Foundation or higher for IT service management.
• CCNA, CCNP, or CompTIA Network+ for networking.
• Oracle DBA, Microsoft SQL Server, or PostgreSQL for database management.
• PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile Scrum Master for project management will be an added
advantage.
• CISSP, CISM, or CEH for security management will be an added advantage.
Main Job Functions:
1. E2E Security Management
• Oversee end-to-end network security in alignment with customer and business security requirements.
• Ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, frameworks, and regulatory standards.
• Implement and manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and endpoint protection solutions.
• Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and risk mitigation activities.
• Establish and maintain incident response and disaster recovery plans.
Main Job Functions:
2. Systems Support & Administration
• Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the operations of IT systems, databases, and infrastructure.
• Administer enterprise applications, servers, and cloud-based environments to ensure high availability and performance.
• Manage system backups, patch management, and upgrades for business continuity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements, specifications, and implementation roadmaps.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures for system operations and maintenance.
3. End User Support
• Oversee IT service desk operations and ensure efficient resolution of technical issues.
• Ensure technology accessibility with up-to-date hardware, software, and communication tools.
• Provide end-user training and awareness on IT systems, security, and best practices.
• Monitor IT support performance metrics and implement continuous improvement
initiatives.
4. Development & Automation
• Identify opportunities for IT process automation to enhance efficiency.
• Oversee custom development and integration of IT solutions to optimize business operations.
• Ensure best practices in coding, testing, and deployment for in-house applications and automation scripts.
• Collaborate with business units to drive digital transformation initiatives.
5. Administration & IT Governance
• Control IT budgets, expenditures, and cost optimization strategies.
• Develop and implement IT governance frameworks, policies, and compliance measures.
• Prepare monthly reports on IT operations, security posture, and project progress.
• Oversee procurement, vendor management, and contracts related to IT services and infrastructure.
6. IT Project Management
• Lead and oversee IT projects from planning to execution within defined timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Ensure projects align with customer-centric approaches and business objectives.
• Facilitate project status reporting, stakeholder engagement, and approvals at each stage.
• Ensure smooth handover of completed projects to the respective teams for continued support.
Skills
• Strong experience in IT operations, security, infrastructure, and system administration.
• Proficiency in network security, cloud services, ITIL frameworks, and automation tools.
• Knowledge in project management methodologies (Agile, PMP, Prince2, etc.).
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in compliance with industry regulations and IT governance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint & Excel.
• Knowledge of database management systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to interpret and analyse data from multiple sources.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
