Information Technology Officer

Full-time

Bank of Baroda (Uganda) Limited invites applications for employment on a contractual basis from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens willing to serve at our Head Office in Kampala for the position of Information Technology Officer.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-level support on ATM, Swift, RTGS, EFT, and clearing.
  • Offer all technical and IT-related support to all departments, offices, and branches.
  • Monitor hardware, software, and network installation for the opening of new branches and ATMs.
  • Administer user accounts on CRB, FINACLE, and other utilities.
  • Produce ATM cards, Baroda Connect User IDs, and passwords.
  • Monitor the functioning of ATMs, both onsite and offsite, handle complaints, and oversee ATM site construction.
  • Support branches and departments at the Head Office with hardware, software, application-related issues, and equipment-related issues such as UPS, batteries, data cabling, AMCs of IT-related hardware/software, warranties, vendors, and loading of tenders on the website.
  • Educate customers on using technology products.
  • Train, familiarize, build awareness, and update employees on technology issues, E-channels, and guidelines regarding preventive vigilance and data security.
  • Verify and issue cheque books and handle custody and issuance of personalized cheque books to branches for onward delivery to customers.
  • Coordinate with Data Centre vendors to troubleshoot IT-related problems and issues.
  • Provide technical and IT-related support to customers through branches on all alternative delivery channels (Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, ATMs, etc.).
  • Troubleshoot and ensure proper upkeep of hardware, software, and their AMCs.
  • Perform end-of-day activities.
  • Maintain ATM Switch database and backups, print ATM card/PIN mailers, and handle issues related to ATMs and ATM cards.
  • Provide support on the reconciliation module for Nostro reconciliation.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the database and assets of the bank in the IT department.
  • Ensure and supervise the smooth functioning of the IT department.
  • Manage technical aspects of the products and their features in the Transaction System (Finacle).
  • Prepare documents for project planning and implementation.
  • Coordinate and liaise with vendors.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science with a good overall GPA (minimum 2nd Class Upper).
  • Certifications such as MCSE, CCNA, Oracle Certified Professional, etc., will be an added advantage.

Requirements:

  • Applicant should have team-building skills, computer proficiency, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a high degree of integrity and confidentiality.

Experience:

  • Candidates should have satisfactory experience, preferably 3 years, with at least 12 months or more in organizations dealing with banking, finance, or supporting banking applications. Candidates should possess:
    • Proficient knowledge of UNIX, LINUX, Windows, and Oracle Database administration.
    • Proficient knowledge in SQL and Transact SQL.
    • Knowledge of programming (Shell Scripting).
    • Basic knowledge of networking (WAN) and security.
    • Knowledge of banking software like Finacle will be an added advantage.
    • Any other specific qualifications as required for the post.

Age:

  • Preferably 30 years; however, management reserves the right to determine the age criteria even beyond 30 years based on market conditions and the bank’s requirements in terms of experience and qualifications.
