Instrumentation Technician

Hima Cement is hiring an Instrumentation Technician responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance of the plant’s instrumentation equipment at optimal cost while complying with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
- Maintain and calibrate all plant instruments, including weigh feeders, gas analyzers, dust monitors, fire alarm systems, shell scanners, kiln cameras, and VFDs.
- Integrate, document, and commission new or revamped instruments.
- Develop logic diagrams, PLC programs, and CCR graphic displays for new/revamped equipment.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation failures and perform high-quality repair work.
- Conduct regular inspections, fix anomalies, and report findings.
- Analyze equipment failures, recommend corrective actions, and implement solutions.
- Ensure proper cleanliness of instrument rooms and maintain an efficient spare parts inventory.
Maintenance and Optimization Operations
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as per approved schedules.
- Update process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and develop/revise standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Improve instrumentation maintenance and calibration schedules.
- Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives to enhance equipment lifespan.
- Ensure consistency in data flow between plant instruments and control systems.
Management – Planning & Cost Control
- Assist in controlling the maintenance budget and executing cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance interventions and calibration data.
- Backup sensitive instrumentation data and parameters.
Standards & Compliance
- Ensure all instrumentation systems comply with company standards.
- Supervise contractors and ensure technical training for plant personnel.
- Optimize internal processes and structures for improved efficiency.
OH&S and Environmental Compliance
- Promote a safety-first culture in all operations.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
Educational & Experience Requirements
- Diploma in Systems, Control, Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical, instrumentation, or control systems.
- Prior experience in a heavy industrial environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with FMEA techniques and basic problem-solving tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Additional Requirements
- Knowledge of cement manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of electrical equipment, control loops, and PLC theory.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with strong troubleshooting abilities.
- Familiarity with material transport equipment and cement plant machinery (e.g., crushers, roller mills, ball mills, rotary kilns, packing machines).
- Strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
