Internal Auditor

Bank of Baroda (Uganda) Limited invites applications for employment on a permanent or contractual basis from suitably qualified Ugandan citizens willing to serve at our Head Office, Kampala, for the position of Internal Auditor.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Carry out ongoing assessments of corporate governance, internal controls, systems, and procedures in the bank. Assure the Board and management that the control mechanism is effective and adequate. Monitor compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies, efficiency and effectiveness of operations, and safeguarding of assets.
  • Conduct Risk-Based Audits/Concurrent Audits of branches and Risk-Based Audits of branches/offices/departments as per the Annual Audit Plan approved by the Board Audit Committee. Ensure timely submission of audit reports to all concerned.
  • Evaluate existing systems and procedures and suggest improvements to make the system fraud-free.
  • Assist in verifying compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering Financial Terrorism (CFT), and Know Your Customer (KYC) norms/guidelines.
  • Generate and verify daily off-site inspection reports of all branches.
  • Assist in verifying the reliability of information produced by accounting and computer systems.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and operating instructions, including internal checks.
  • Carry out risk assessments of all branches and prepare the Annual Audit Plan.
  • Detect revenue leakages, if any, and ensure recovery thereof.
  • Check the enforceability of documents taken in respect of advance accounts and verify asset classification of advances.
  • Ensure the quality and content of inspection reports; critically analyze and report on credit, NPA, preventive vigilance, high-risk areas, sensitive accounts, computer operations, and housekeeping.

Qualifications:

  1. University graduate with an Honors degree.
  2. Fully qualified in accounting with a recognized institute and registered member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) with at least three (3) years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a banking environment.
  3. Working knowledge of IFRS, Ugandan tax legislation, and the Financial Institutions Act (FIA) 2004.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should possess good experience working with computers, fluency in spoken/written English, high integrity, and strong character. Strong analytical and numeracy skills are required.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of post-qualification experience, preferably in the banking sector in Uganda. Accounting or auditing experience in a financial institution will be an added advantage.

Age:

  • Preferably 35 years. However, management reserves the right to determine the age criteria even beyond 35 years, considering the experience and qualifications.
