IT Infrastructure Manager

Reports to: Head of ICT

Main Job Responsibilities

• Manage and support all infrastructural components, including LAN, WAN, IP Telephony, IT Hardware, Operating Systems, and Applications.
• Develop and provide system infrastructure to support IT solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Ensure proper configuration and management of ICT assets, including software licensing.
• Oversee the resolution of major infrastructural incidents and problems, including prioritization, root cause documentation, and implementation of remedies.
• Support and implement major infrastructural changes while ensuring availability, effectiveness, and risk compliance.
• Conduct capacity management for all ICT infrastructure components.
• Participate in commercial negotiations for supplier contracts and manage vendor relationships with key service providers.
• Review the Business Continuity Management Plan and execute required tests while addressing failures.
• Implement and drive Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies to ensure quick turnaround times during system downtimes.
• Review patching and vulnerability reports for servers, desktops, and other components, ensuring remediation as required.
• Monitor and manage staff performance, set objectives, conduct appraisals, and provide coaching and mentoring.
• Review weekly and monthly reports detailing LAN, WAN, and security status, along with incident reports for identified threats, and advise senior management on risk mitigation strategies.
• Ensure secure, reliable, and efficient WAN connections for all sites by coordinating with service providers and vendors.
• Manage preventive maintenance for critical devices (e.g., servers, UPS) to ensure servicing is conducted as per schedule and SLAs.

Qualifications

1. Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, ICT, Electronic Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is an added advantage).

2. Professional Certifications

• ICT-related certifications (CCNP or other specializations in virtualization and data centers are an added advantage).

3. Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, servers, storage systems, virtualization, and cloud computing.
• Proficiency in Windows, Linux, databases, and networking protocols.
• Experience in strategy development, project management, systems audit, and analysis.
• Excellent people management, networking, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work in a multidimensional and multicultural environment.
• Strong communication, analytical, and planning skills.

4. Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of in-depth experience in an ICT department within a busy environment.
• Experience in major infrastructure projects, such as data center setups.
• Experience working in large-scale operations with outreach in rural and hard-to-reach areas.
