IT Officer

Full-time

The IT Officer is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all technology systems. This role involves providing technical support, managing  hardware and  software resources, and ensuring data security and network reliability.

Reports to: (Title of Line Manager) I.T Manager
Department: Information Technology
Workstation: Namanve Industrial Park.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve IT-related problems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, systems, networks,
  • printers, and scanners.

2. Network Administration:

  • Manage and maintain the company’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN,
  • and VPN.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, antivirus
  • software, and intrusion detection systems.

3. System Administration:

  • Administer and maintain company servers, including file, email, and web servers.
  • Perform regular system backups and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights.

4. Software Management:

  • Install, update, and maintain software applications used within the company.
  • Ensure software licenses are up-to-date and compliant with legal requirements.
  • Provide training and support to staff on the use of software applications.

5. IT Projects:

  • Participate in planning and implementing IT projects, including system upgrades
  • and migrations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of IT policies and procedures.
  • Research and recommend new technologies to improve business processes and
  • efficiency.

6. Data Management:

  • Ensure data security and privacy by implementing appropriate measures and
  • protocols.
  • Perform regular data backups and recovery operations.
  • Maintain and update the company’s database systems.

7. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of IT systems and processes.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, issues, and resolutions.
  • Document technical issues and solutions for future reference.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  •  Relevant certifications CCNA,ITIL V4 are preferred.

Job-Related Experience and Knowledge.

  • At least 5 years of experience in IT support and network administration.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, security, and administration.
  • Experience with server administration and virtualization technologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology,Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science,Bachelor’s Of Software Engineering,Bachelor’s Of Information Systems,Bachelor’s Of Computer Engineering
