PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To teach, supervise, promote research studies, and disseminate research findings.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

1. a) A PhD in Nursing Science.
   OR
   b) A Master of Science in Nursing.
   c) Bachelor of Nursing Science from a recognized/accredited institution.
   d) PhD track is an added advantage.
   e) Should have at least three (3) years of teaching experience.
   f) Have at least two (2) peer-reviewed publications in a peer-reviewed journal.
   g) A good record of community and academic service.
   h) Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council and holds an up-to-date Practicing License.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. a) To prepare and conduct lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students using innovative approaches including e-learning, in line with the University’s Quality Assurance standards.
   b) To guide and advise students on their academic performance and attend to their queries on academic issues.
   c) To participate in and supervise Laboratory practicals.
   d) To conduct research with peers in areas of specialization and disseminate the findings.
   e) To supervise and mentor students conducting research.
   f) To organize, attend, and conduct seminars and relevant trainings.
   g) To set tests, examinations, and course work in accordance with University standards and policies.
   h) To mark tests and examinations scripts and compile results in line with approved University grading standards.
   i) To write and submit fundable research proposals to government and other funding agencies.

KEY OUTPUTS

1. a) Lecture plans prepared and lectures delivered according to the timetable.
   b) Academic guidance and counseling provided to students.
   c) Laboratory practicals supervised.
   d) Research conducted and findings disseminated/published.
   e) Students conducting research mentored and supervised.
   f) Seminars and trainings organized, attended, and conducted.
   g) Tests, examinations, and course work set, marked, and results compiled.
   h) Examination results graded and produced on time.
   i) Fundable research proposals prepared and approved.
