POSITION: Lecturer

Salary Scale: PU 6.1-TS
Tenure: Permanent
Responsible to: Head of the Department
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To teach, supervise, promote research studies, and disseminate research findings.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- a) A PhD in Midwifery.
OR
b) A Master’s degree in Midwifery and Women’s Health.
c) Bachelor of Nursing Science or Bachelor of Midwifery Science from a recognized/accredited institution.
d) PhD track is an added advantage.
e) Three (3) years of teaching experience.
f) Two (2) publications in a peer-reviewed journal.
g) A good record of community and academic service.
h) Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council with an up-to-date Practicing License.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- a) To prepare and conduct lectures for undergraduate and postgraduate students using innovative approaches including e-learning, in line with the University’s Quality Assurance standards.
b) To guide and advise students on academic issues.
c) To participate in and supervise Laboratory practicals.
d) To conduct research and disseminate findings.
e) To supervise and mentor research students.
f) To organize, attend, and conduct seminars and relevant training.
g) To set tests, examinations, and coursework according to University standards.
h) To mark tests and exams and compile results per University grading standards.
i) To write and submit research proposals to government and funding agencies.
KEY OUTPUTS
- a) Lecture plans prepared and lectures delivered according to the timetable.
b) Academic guidance and counseling provided.
c) Laboratory practicals supervised.
d) Research conducted and published.
e) Students mentored and supervised.
f) Seminars and training organized and conducted.
g) Tests and exams set, marked, and results compiled.
h) Research proposals prepared and approved.
