Manager – Bids

Contract

Main Purpose:
The Manager – Bids will be responsible for identifying business opportunities in the Large Enterprises business segment and Public Sector, developing competitive bid responses, and overseeing the entire bidding process.

Main Job Functions:

  • Manage the end-to-end bid process, from identifying opportunities to submitting winning proposals and strategizing for contract renewals.
  • Formulate strategies for the bidding process, manage resources, and ensure compliance with client requirements.
  • Define necessary partnerships for effective bid responses.
  • Qualify opportunities, analyze customer needs, and assess the competitive landscape.
  • Profile customers, including mapping key decision-makers.
  • Estimate deal values and align them with MTN’s strategy, capabilities, and objectives.
  • Manage virtual bid teams and coordinate inputs from sales, marketing, product teams, finance, commercial, legal, and project management/delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Lead to develop a win strategy for each bid.
  • Address complex technical, strategic, and business issues.
  • Review and confirm pricing, margins, and discretionary discounts.
  • Prepare and review commercial aspects of the bid, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Track and manage risks throughout the bid process.
  • Contribute to the proposal’s content and presentation, including the executive summary.
  • Ensure timely completion of each step in the bid process, including internal governance.
  • Coordinate client presentations required for bid submissions.
  • Ensure timely submission of compliant and commercially sound bids.
  • Provide initial “go/no-go” decisions and final approval of bid response documents.
  • Drive continuous improvement through post-bid reviews.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or Computer Science.

Experience Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of relevant management experience in a large commercial enterprise.
  • Strong analytical and management skills.

Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong financial deal analysis and calculation capabilities.
  • Ability to identify partnership opportunities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications and excellent analytical skills.

  • Manage and ensure adherence to turnaround times in bid responses.

  • Review documentation to understand customer requirements.
  • Engage stakeholders for high-quality bid submissions.
  • Manage customer relationships in service level delivery.
