Marketing and Fundraising Officer

Reports to:
Managing Director
The Marketing and Fundraising Officer will collaborate with the management team and trustees to implement the marketing and fundraising strategy, both online and offline. The role focuses on raising awareness of the charity’s work and increasing activities in referrals, fundraising, and sponsorship recruitment.
Main Responsibilities
The post holder will deliver an agreed work program aligned with the organization’s current priorities in the following areas:
1. Content Creation
- Create and design content for all marketing channels, expanding upon suggestions from the marketing strategy.
2. Brand Communication
- Maintain the FOP brand and core messaging across all channels.
- Explore new ways to enhance the profile of FOP services.
3. Big Projects and Campaigns
- Plan, implement, and evaluate targeted marketing campaigns, such as:
- New child sponsorship drives.
- E-newsletter sign-up campaigns.
- Public fundraising campaigns.
4. Fundraising
- Contribute to the annual fundraising goal set by the Board through:
- Trust and foundation applications.
- Participation in digital and live events.
Specific Duties
- Generate day-to-day content for social media and other fundraising platforms, increasing engagement (followers, likes, and shares).
- Develop digital fundraising strategies.
- Collaborate with staff to produce the organization’s newsletter and increase subscriber numbers.
- Keep the website updated with the latest news and stories.
- Build supportive relationships with similar organizations and share information across networks.
- Create and distribute promotional materials (leaflets and posters) both digitally and offline.
- Assess and report on the effectiveness of marketing activities using tools such as:
- Google Analytics.
- Social media analytics.
- Surveys (digital and offline).
- Assist in the preparation and execution of fundraising events.
- Attend Fundraising and Marketing committee meetings to contribute to strategic development.
The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties aligned with the role’s nature and responsibilities.
Recruitment Criteria
Qualifications Required
- Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field.
- Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (Marketing specialization).
Previous Work Experience
- Essential:
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible marketing positions.
- Experience managing and supervising a busy team of at least five (5) staff in an NGO.
- Preferred:
- Experience working in a charity or NGO environment.
Technical Knowledge or Skills
- Essential:
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in digital tools, liaison, and supervisory tasks.
- Preferred:
- Experience researching and evaluating new service opportunities.
- Ability to execute marketing strategies and manage media relations.
- Skill in writing reports for various readerships.
Additional Information
Time Required to Reach Effective Performance:
- Probation Period: 3 months.
- Full Effectiveness: 6 months.
