Member Service Representative

Full-time

The Member Service Representative will be responsible for determining members’ financial needs and making referrals where necessary, promoting the Credit Union’s product line, processing new accounts/loan applications, and assisting members to the fullest extent possible. He/she will provide support as needed with various administrative functions related to the operations of the Entebbe and Kampala Representative Offices. The role requires ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and UNFCU’s Code of Ethics & Business Conduct.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Uphold UNFCU’s mission, core values, and guiding principles by providing exceptional service to colleagues and members alike, regardless of seniority or role.
  • Provide a memorable member experience at each touch point.
  • Build relationships with members by asking effective questions to better understand their needs.
  • Present UNFCU’s products and services to meet members’ current and future needs.
  • Investigate and resolve issues with member accounts/loans in a timely fashion, keeping members informed of the status.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, procedures, and keep abreast of changing regulations and technology.
  • Verify eligibility of prospective members, establish new memberships, and open new accounts.
  • Respond to member telephone inquiries and prepare responses to member correspondences.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all member account information.
  • Assist with clerical/reception duties and other functions to improve office efficiency as necessary.
  • Make member presentations and conduct service calls to members, including those at out-of-duty stations.
  • Participate in Credit Union training programs.
  • Exhibit flexibility and perform other functions as requested by management.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A university degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a financial institution.
  • Experience with retail banking products and services.
  • Knowledge of regulations pertaining to accounts, services, confidentiality, and lending, or the ability and willingness to learn these practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use other applications.
  • Strong service orientation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy.
