Officer – Cyber Security and Risk
Contract
Officer – Cyber Security and Risk role at NOC LINKS, located in Kampala with flexibility for some remote work. The role involves day-to-day tasks related to application security, cybersecurity, network security, and information security. The Officer will be responsible for ensuring the security and resilience of the organization’s IT systems.
Role Description
· Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and protocols.
· Conduct security reviews and assessments of network infrastructure and web applications to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation measures.
· Establish data classification policies and encryption standards to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
· Conduct security awareness programs and training sessions to educate employees on cyber threats, phishing attacks, and security best practices.
· Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within existing and potential client organizations.
· Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and proposing appropriate solutions.
· Prepare and deliver sales presentations, proposals, and demonstrations to prospective clients.
· Conduct product demonstrations and technical presentations to showcase the features and capabilities of our cybersecurity solutions.
· Serve as the primary technical resource during the pre-sales process, working closely with the management team to understand customer requirements and propose appropriate cybersecurity solutions.
· Conduct penetration tests on a variety of systems, including web applications, network infrastructure, and wireless networks.
· Stay updated on emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies to effectively articulate the value proposition of our offerings.
Qualifications
- Basic Application Security and Information Security skills
- Basic Basic Knowledge in Cybersecurity
- Basic Network Security knowledge
- Knowledge Cyber risk management
- Basic Knowledgeof Cyber defense strategies
· A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field with a minimum grade of Second Class, Upper Division.
· Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, operating systems, and information security principles.
· Familiarity with common cybersecurity tools.
· Proficiency in scripting or programming languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash would be advantageous.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
· Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a remote team environment.
· Basic ability to generate leads, convert them into prospects, and understand customer requirements.
· Ability to understand, elaborate and demonstrate/showcase software products and solutions, features, benefits and applications.
· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Relevant internships, projects, or certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH – Certified Ethical Hacker, CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional) are a plus.
