Officer Multimedia Sector Performance

Full-time

The Officer Multimedia Sector Performance will evaluate and enhance the performance of the multimedia sector in Uganda by monitoring industry trends, supporting content development, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting the growth of high-quality local content.

Reports to: Senior Officer Standards

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyse multimedia sector performance data to assess trends, identify challenges, evaluate the effectiveness of regulatory policies and prepare detailed reports.
  • Conduct industry research to support evidence-based policy-making and strategic planning.
  • Carry out general quantitative and qualitative research and statistical analysis to produce media evaluation reports and make recommendations.
  • Implement initiatives under the Content Development Support Programme (CDSP) to boost local content production and competitiveness.
  • Facilitate workshops, training, and funding opportunities for local filmmakers and content creators.
  • Monitor compliance with UCC regulations within the multimedia sector, ensuring adherence to content quality and ethical standards.
  • Advise on regulatory changes to enhance industry standards and consumer protection.
  • Liaise with multimedia sector stakeholders, including content creators, broadcasters, and distributors, to foster collaboration and address sector needs.
  • Promote audience development and market expansion for Ugandan content, both locally and internationally.
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the DERCCA and UCC leadership for sector improvement and growth.
  • Maintain flexibility to accommodate any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

  • Improved compliance rates with UCC regulations in the multimedia sector.
  • Increased international recognition and market reach of Ugandan multimedia content.
  • Effective implementation of content development and support initiatives.

  • Stakeholder satisfaction.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Film Production, or a related field.

Working Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the multimedia sector, content development, regulatory affairs, or a related field.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Technical

  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Knowledge of the Ugandan AV sector and global media trends.

Behavioral

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
