Payroll Officer

Full-time

The Payroll Officer shall be responsible for ensuring accuracy of payroll data and timely processing in addition to providing general support to the Human Resources department, undertaking specific tasks as detailed below.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day payroll operations of the HR business clientele including the processing of monthly payrolls and related reports.
  • Ensure the accuracy of payroll information through review, and analysis of contractor time sheets, HR records and Client contracts.
  • Maintain payroll system, including data entry, and updating of contractor information to ensure there are no errors at the end of each month.
  • Ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately in accordance with set policies, state and local regulations.
  • Answer questions and provide customer service to contractors regarding payroll matters.
  • Ensure compliance with payroll-related regulations regarding wage garnishments, taxes, NSSF, PAYE and other deductions.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all contractor information and payroll records.
  • Maintain payroll files to ensure they are organized and available for any interrogation by authorized personnel.
  • Calculate terminal benefit payments and forward to Finance for further processing for all exiting staff in a timely manner.

Key specifications

  • Bachelor of Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences or related discipline.
  • Post graduate diploma in Business Administration or CPA from a recognised Institution is an added advantage.
  • 5 – 10 years experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas and Service Industries with an accounting background is an added advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational & analytical skills
  • Keen and detail oriented
  • Honest
  • Capable of high degree of confidentiality
  • Conversant with computers (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
