Process Operator

Full-time

The Process Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of processing machinery. The role involves ensuring the smooth running of production lines, maintaining product quality, performing routine maintenance, and adhering to safety standards.

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Duty Station: Soroti

Main Duties

Operation of Processing Equipment:

  • Operate and oversee various machines used in the processing and packaging of fruit products.
  • Adjust machine settings to optimize performance and product quality.
  • Monitor the equipment during operation to ensure it runs smoothly.

Quality Control:

  • Inspect products at different stages of the production process.
  • Conduct routine quality checks to ensure products meet the company’s standards.
  • Report any deviations from quality standards to the Production Supervisor.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on processing equipment.
  • Quickly identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to minimize production downtime.
  • Keep maintenance logs and report any issues to the maintenance team.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate production records, including output levels, machine performance, and quality control results.
  • Complete necessary documentation for compliance with regulatory requirements.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth production operations.
  • Communicate any operational issues or improvements to the Production Supervisor or Manager.

And any other duties that may be assigned to you by your supervisors from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Diploma in either Food Processing or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Science Technology/Biochemistry.
  • Two years of working experience in the related field.
  • Machine Operation: Proficient in operating various types of processing equipment.
  • Maintenance Skills: Basic mechanical skills for routine maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Quality Control: Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and standards.
  • Safety Awareness: Understanding of safety regulations and protocols.
  • The ability to keep up to date with changing technology.
  • Openness to learning and Creativity.
  • The ability to do precision work.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and ability to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects as required.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced and sometimes physically demanding environment.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays if needed.
