Production Manager

The Production Manager will oversee all aspects of the production process at Tenza Flour Mills Ltd., ensuring efficient and high-quality output. This role requires a Mechanical Engineer with significant experience in wheat flour milling who can manage production operations, optimize mechanical systems, and lead a production team to meet the company’s objectives. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, with a strong focus on process optimization, equipment maintenance, and team management.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Operations Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of the wheat flour milling plant, ensuring that production schedules are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Develop and implement production plans that maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
- Monitor production processes and adjust schedules or methods as necessary to ensure optimal performance.
Mechanical Systems Oversight:
- Ensure all milling equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems are operating at peak efficiency.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximizing production efficiency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any mechanical issues that may arise during the production process.
Process Optimization:
- Analyze production processes to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production capabilities and product quality.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage and lead the production team, including technicians, and other staff involved in the milling process.
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement within the production department.
Quality Control and Assurance:
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure all products meet the company’s quality standards.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain consistency in production output.
- Address any quality issues promptly, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure that all production activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments, taking action to mitigate potential hazards.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare regular reports on production metrics, including efficiency, output, downtime, and quality.
- Maintain accurate documentation of production processes, equipment maintenance, and incident reports.
- Report directly to senior management on production performance and any issues or improvements needed.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in wheat flour milling, with at least 3 years in a production management role.
- Strong knowledge of milling processes, mechanical systems, and equipment used in flour milling.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a production team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and experience with process optimization.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations in an industrial setting.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to report on production performance clearly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automation in milling processes.
- Certification in production management or maintenance management.
