Essential Job Responsibilities
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Learn and integrate safeguarding measures into work, including risk mitigation.
- Uphold Mercy Corps’ values, respecting participants and team members.
- Encourage open communication and promote the use of reporting mechanisms for any concerns.
Technical Responsibilities
Program Implementation
- Assist in designing and implementing work plans.
- Conduct participant identification for various activities.
- Mobilize participants and organize community trainings in line with work plans and budgets.
- Coordinate and monitor project implementation, document success stories, and collaborate with program team members.
Gender and Youth Integration
- Ensure program activities apply gender equity and empowerment principles.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Responsible for data collection, validation, quality control, and submission.
- Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform implementation.
- Document best practices and lessons learned, and submit timely reports.
Influence and Representation
- Promote activity visibility at community and sub-county levels.
- Establish relationships with local stakeholders and avoid duplication of services.
- Support visits from government, HQ staff, donors, and media.
Knowledge and Experience
- Certificate or Diploma level training.
- 1-2 years of community mobilization, training, and networking experience.
- Experience in working with NGOs, government partners, and community-based organizations.
- Fluency in local languages prevalent in the operational district is essential.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle (valid license or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills in English.

- Reports Directly To: Senior Program Officer
- Works Directly With: Oxfam, CARE Staff, and Program Team members.
Accountability to Participants & Stakeholders

Living Conditions/Environmental Conditions
The position is based in West Nile with 60% travel to field sites. Evening and weekend work may be required. Team members are expected to conduct themselves professionally, adhering to local laws and Mercy Corps policies.
