Project Officer
Full-time
The Project Officer will lead and oversee the implementation of the EU Child Protection Project in Kamuli, Luuka, and Mayuge Districts. This project focuses on accelerating actions to eliminate child labor practices along the agricultural value chains in the Busoga Sub-Region.
The role involves coordinating with local partners, government bodies, coalitions, and NGOs while ensuring quality results in project implementation.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Implementation
- Provide technical support on child labor issues in the targeted districts.
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies addressing child labor’s root causes.
- Conduct policy analysis, identify gaps, and guide stakeholders on compliance with child rights laws.
- Mobilize and facilitate stakeholder engagement in planning, workshops, and forums.
- Plan and execute targeted campaigns, engage in media outreach, and coordinate public communication efforts.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Track and report advocacy efforts, challenges, achievements, and lessons learned.
- Document success stories, case studies, and best practices.
- Compile quality monthly and quarterly progress reports.
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation.
Capacity Building
- Coordinate child protection training in participating districts and communities.
- Build partnerships with local government, private sector, and community leaders for child rights advocacy.
- Facilitate training for stakeholders and organize community advocacy sessions.
- Support grassroots coalitions to end child labor.
Community Engagement
- Mobilize communities, including children, parents, and local leaders, to participate in project activities.
- Sensitize stakeholders on child protection and promote participation in community initiatives.
- Organize and participate in child-related celebrations, such as Day of the African Child and 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
Networking, Coordination, and Collaboration
- Build networks with local governments, civil society organizations, and faith institutions.
- Support formulation and implementation of ordinances on child protection.
- Represent LWF in advocacy forums, coalitions, and working groups.
- Facilitate dialogues between partners, local governments, and children.
- Establish and strengthen child protection response mechanisms and referral pathways.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Laws, Human Rights, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or equivalent.
- Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s degree in Child Protection is an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–5 years in child protection advocacy, preferably with an NGO.
- Knowledge of Ugandan child protection laws and policies.
- Experience in community work, stakeholder engagement, and working with children.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Valid riding license and ability to ride a Honda XL-125 motorcycle.

- Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
Work Details
- Hours: 8 hours/day.
- Experience: Minimum of 36 months.
- Level of Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
