Project Officer-Land Rights

Full-time

The Project Officer will ensure the timely delivery of planned activities and build the capacities of stakeholders. Specifically, they will enhance district and sub-county land management institutions’ capacities in customary land registration, land dispute resolution, land tenancy agreements, and self-financing mechanisms.

Reports to: Project Coordinator
Salary: Competitive

Key Responsibilities:

Project Implementation:

  • Lead the coordination of project field activities.
  • Organize capacity-building activities for project participants.
  • Assess and update the capacity development plan based on technical needs.
  • Ensure coordination with relevant departments and organizations.

Land Mapping and Documentation:

  • Provide technical expertise on land governance through training and mentorship.
  • Support district and sub-county land management institutions in areas like land registration, dispute resolution, and financing.
  • Supervise mapping and ensure quality data collection for land registration.
  • Oversee safe storage of land documentation and timely submission of data.

Documentation, Reporting, and Knowledge Management:

  • Develop and submit monthly work plans and activity reports.
  • Document and share success stories and best practices.

Rights of Marginalized Groups:

  • Apply UCOBAC’s GESI approach to ensure inclusivity for women, youth, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
  • Protect children from project-related abuses.
  • Advocate for the rights of women and girls.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Land Surveying.
  • Knowledge of GIS software, preferably QGIS.
  • Proficiency in English and Acholi; knowledge of Arabic, Dinka, or Nuer is an added advantage.
  • Valid motorcycle rider’s permit.
  • Strong ICT, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
